About Spotalot

Turning everyday drives, walks, and errands into simple games of "how many can you spot?"

The Inspiration

Spotalot was inspired by Willa, a 10-year-old girl who counted over 1,000 cars and trucks on a 5-hour drive home from Fall Break. What started as a simple game to pass the time turned into an epic counting adventure that kept her engaged and entertained for the entire journey.

Seeing how such a simple activity could transform a long car ride, we created Spotalot to help other kids stay engaged during car rides, walks, and everyday outings by turning the world around them into a game. Instead of asking "Are we there yet?" or staring at passive entertainment, kids can actively participate in their journey by counting things they spot along the way.

Any proceeds from the app will go directly to Willa's college fund, helping support her education and future dreams.

Our Mission

The app is designed to be flexible and open-ended. Kids can count anything they're interested in—not just predefined items. Whether it's red cars, spotted dogs, delivery trucks, or seasonal decorations like Halloween pumpkins or Christmas lights, Spotalot adapts to what captures their curiosity at that moment.

Seasonal Adventures

One of the things that makes Spotalot special is how it changes with the seasons. During different times of year, families might choose to count pumpkins in autumn, holiday lights and snowmen in winter, bicycles and ice cream trucks in summer, or blooming flowers in spring. The game evolves naturally with what's happening in the world around your child, making each trip unique and timely.

Intentionally Simple

Spotalot is intentionally minimal. There are no complicated controls, no distracting animations competing for attention, and no endless features to navigate. The interface is clean and straightforward: pick something to count, tap when you see it, and watch your number grow. This simplicity means kids focus on looking outside and experiencing their surroundings rather than getting lost in the app itself.

For Parents

Built to Be Safe

Spotalot requires no accounts for kids to use. There are no social features, no in-app messaging, and no ways for strangers to contact or interact with your child. The app is a self-contained counting tool designed for solo play or family fun.

Privacy First

We collect very limited data and have no interest in tracking or profiling children for advertising. The app works with minimal information and does not engage in ad targeting or selling user data to third parties.

Works in Low Connectivity

The core counting experience does not require a constant internet connection, making it perfect for long highway stretches, rural areas, or anywhere you might have limited service. Once the app is downloaded, kids can count wherever they go.
